Professional Experience

Phil worked industrial construction throughout the 80s with TIC, the Industrial Company of Steamboat Springs. With TIC he gained expertise in installation, PLC programming, supervision, design, and project start-up as well as experience commissioning on dozens of different project sites.

In 1988 Phil began working for Hercules Aerospace Facilities Engineering and helped with design, installation, PLC programming, and engineering field support on the Bacchus West Facility.

In 1990 Phil was employed by Ford, Bacon, and Davis Engineers until 1995 and then with CEntry Constructors and Engineers until 1998. During this time, he helped with project design, field engineering support, and plant automation on numerous projects and sites including Flying J's Opto 22 and Wonderware DCS system.

He has been involved in automation efforts on various projects since 1991 and has worked on many DCS and PLC systems including Honeywell TCD-3000 and many PLC systems including Allen Bradley, Modicon, and Control Microsystems. He has extensive experience with many HMI systems including Wonderware Intouch, Application Server, GE iFix, and others.

While working with APCO, Phil has managed numerous projects ranging from $5K to $1.2M in size. He's worked these projects from the design and engineering phase through to the commissioning and successful completion. He's also upgraded and installed MDS and Freewave radio system networks at numerous locations for numerous clients. Many of these projects have been in the water treatment industry, where Phil has upgraded to new control systems with new instrumentation.

Currently, Phil is managing the CUWCD Utah Valley WAter Treatment Plant "Process Improvement Project" in Orem, Utah. This project started in April of 2013 and has an estimated 2 1/2 year duration. APCO will help add a new ozone facitlity, new flocculation and sedimentation basins, a new chemical building, and a new plant dewatering facility. The scope of work for APCO includes supplying all of the instrumentation, control schematics, and wiring loop diagrams, along with the installation and programming of three new Modicon Quantum PLC systems,  the upgrading of hardware and software on nine existing PLC systems, and the upgrading of the plant to a GE iFIX HMI system.

Phil enjoys the outdoors and music in his spare time.
