Carl Wadsworth - Senior Control Engineer

Carl is an ISA Certified Automation Professional and has a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah. Carl has experience with a wide range of control hardware and software.  His software development expertise has allowed him to develop tools for advanced control, remote communications, control strategy optimization, and other control tasks.  He has project experience implementing process control and HMI/SCADA for many industrial clients.

Professional Highlights

Carl engineered, developed, and implemented a fully redundant SCADA system for Central Utah Water Conservancy District in Orem, Utah. This system has two base stations and over 60 RTUs communicating through multiple radio, modem and Ethernet networks.  Ongoing work for CUWC has included a implementing a SCADA system on a hydroelectric power plant.

Carl developed and implemented control strategies and graphical user interfaces for two large batch processes at Fresenius Medical Care in Ogden, Utah.  Working at Flying J Refinery in North Salt Lake, Utah, he developed and commissioned advanced control and communications routines.

Proficient in custom programming, Carl has developed communication code used in SCADA systems in Provo City, Utah and Newfield Exploration. Also for Newfield Exploration, he has developed embedded RTU code that calculates oil/water fractions

Other projects Carl has worked on include Brush Resources, Delta, Utah; North Davis Sewer District, Syracuse, Utah; Joint Powers Water Board, Green River, Wyoming; ; Phillips 66 Refinery, Woods Cross, Utah; Conoco-Venco, West Virginia; Sorenson Medical, Salt Lake City, Utah

Carl has developed control systems using a wide range of hardware and software.  He has extensive experience with GE Fanuc's Intellution (Proficy) products, and is a Wonderware certified developer. He has worked with Opto 22, Allen-Bradley, and Control Microsystems products.  He has implemented communications systems with Ethernet, Modbus, radios and serial devices. He has also developed custom applications with C/C++, VB, .NET, and MS office.

When not working on control systems he enjoys music, reading, computers and spending time with his wife and four kids.
